Clemson shocks the nation with triple commits!

This past weekend Clemson hosted their first Official Visits, and it took the top recruits in the nation by surprise. After securing three major commits, the Tigers moved up to No. 8 in recruitment rankings for the 2024 class. What makes Clemson stand out, and most importantly, what is the selling perk of being a Tiger that causes many recruits to make their decision before visiting other schools?

One thing we all know about being in Tiger Town is the family environment. Whether you’re at a tailgate, the library, or walking The Dikes, there will always be a smiling and welcoming face. This, along with competing to be the best team year after year, has got to be the welcome mat for many of these top recruits coming through. Not only does Clemson establish itself as one of the best teams in the country, but the program is always willing to add another member to the family!

The first major recruit of the weekend was #1 LB Sammy Brown. This was a major pull for Clemson, as the Georgia native had many hometown people favoring him for the Bulldogs. His family is lifelong Clemson fans, and if you kept track of social media during the visits, you’ll see Sammy had already fit in at the Valley. Sammy is the highest-ranked player in 247sports history, and he will be an amazing addition to the Tiger’s defense. On the other side of the ball, however, Sammy is also an accomplished running back! Being very agile and quick, he moves better than the majority of players of his build. He’s racked up over 3,500 rushing yards in his high school career, and we can see him being a two-way player at Clemson without a doubt.

The next major recruit to make their decision on Clemson was WR TJ Moore. The No. 24 overall WR was the first major receiver of the 2024 class to commit to Clemson, and I’m sure Coach Grisham is astounded. The 6’3 190 lb playmaker averaged 24.3 yards per catch in his Junior year, and that is exactly the type of player we need at Clemson.

Pairing up with TJ Moore on the receivers list is 5 ⭐️ WR Bryant Wesco. Wesco is known as the receiver who gets overtop his opponent and stretches out to make the long-ball play. With Clemson being more of a short-ball offense, I’m curious to see if he’s able to adjust to more of a short game. Clemson still has its fair share of deep ball however, and I can see them using Wesco as a weapon in those situations. With Wesco being the second WR of the 2024 class to go to Clemson, could they be the new dynamic duo in Death Valley?

Shortly after Wesco committed, there was an article released by SportsTalk Media Network, covering 4⭐️ WR Braylon Staley. If you’re in the recruiting bucket at all you’ve heard of Staley and his talents, but what he said in the article we did not expect. “They wanted me. But unfortunately, they got two receivers that committed already, and they were only taking two out of the ’24 class. Unless anyone uncommits, then right now, yeah, I’m out . . .” said Staley to SportsTalk reporter Phil Kornblut. Staley also stated that had he been ready to make such a decision, he would have. It’s a simple case of bad timing and limited slots. The main question, however, is what led to the decision for Clemson to only take two receivers? With so much talent out there, we can only guess that Clemson had to limit spots to ensure their roster remains balanced. When it comes down to having to pass up on such an established slot receiver like Staley, this is definitely a difficult situation to be in!

We are still super early in the recruitment phase of things, and many more top recruits have visits planned for Clemson down the line. With such a successful recruitment campaign so far, how many more star players can the Tigers land? Be sure to stay tuned to our Twitter and Instagram for real-time updates on everything Clemson!
