Clemson and Dabo Sweeney will travel to Durham for this anticipated season opener. Duke’s Quarterback Riley Leonard will lead the Duke Blue Devils against Cade Klubnik and the Clemson Tigers, but this game will certainly be no cakewalk for the Tigers.
Tigers won the ACC last season, and Duke had a considerably better record than the following year, finishing 5-3 in the conference. Duke returns a whopping 19 starters, including a pair of all ACC Players Graham Barton and Dewayne Carter. Last year Duke surprised many people, finishing 9-4, including a win in the Military Bowl.
On paper, Clemson has more talent on both sides of the ball and should handle business against The Blue Devils. The games aren’t played on paper, though. They are played on the field, and Duke has a quarterback and Coach who could give the Tigers a tough battle.
From my perspective, the game simply comes down to Clemson’s offense. If Klubnik shows up and shows out, Clemson can win by more than two touchdowns. That’s exactly what I see happening because Clemson’s defense is more solid than last year, and last year they were pretty solid!
This is an excellent matchup for the Tigers for a season opener. It will be a comfortable win for the Tigers. We will put a “W” in the win column and improve more and more. I’m optimistic that this will be a season for Clemson and their fans to remember for years.
