Clemson does it again! What a win by the Tigers, leading for 37 out of 40 minutes of gameplay. Arizona, the favorite to win, was upset by Clemson’s outstanding performance in the Sweet 16. In a bout between two heavyweights, Clemson locks down Arizona’s perimeter. Arizona, known for their 3-point shooting prowess, was held to only 17.9% from beyond the arc. Keeping G Kylan Boswell and G Pelle Larsson, of Arizona, in check, only allowing 2-11, collectively.
This is the first time since 1980 that Clemson has advanced to the Elite 8. They are that… Elite. The first half was all Clemson as they led 39-31 at the break after Arizona closed the thirteen-point gap. Chase Hunter led the team in scoring with 18 points, also adding 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Big shot after big shot, rained down for Clemson all game. The Chef added two 3-pointers and PJ Hall dropped 17 points in the win.
Clemson will be looking to run Alabama off the 3-point line, as they did to Arizona, when they match up in the Elite 8. #4 seed Alabama knocked off #1 seed North Carolina, as they will advance to face Clemson on Saturday, March 30. Tip-off is at approximately 8:49 pm on TBS.
