Clemson Baseball has had an impressive streak recently, earning the number one seed in their own Regional. With Head Coach Erik Bakich leading these players, will they take it all the way?
After a shaky start to the season, the Tigers have made a full 180, pulling off the lead in 26 of their last 29 games. They’ve been on an amazing streak so far, even winning the last 7 series they’ve played in. Clemson has proven to be a powerhouse in the second half of this season, but will their players stay hot?
The Tigers squad has been led by quite a few stars, but none shining bright as the two Caden Grice and Billy Amick. Grice has stunned the league on the mound this season with a record of 8-1 and 91 K’s. Even being called “the Shohei Ohtani of college baseball”, he took home the ACC Tournament MVP Award as well. Both Amick and Grice have had an impressive year in the box, combining for a .360 AVG, 28 HR, and 121 RBIs. We look forward to seeing both perform in the upcoming Regional, set to be underway this Friday, June 2nd at 1 p.m.
Clemson is gearing up to play the No. 4 seed Lipscomb for their opening game. The Bisons put up a decent season record of 36-24, a lot of that being with the help of star player Trace Willhoite, who leads the team with 65 RBIs.
The post-season pressure is something the Tigers baseball team has become accustomed to. This marks their 45th appearance in an ACC tournament, ranking as the 5th most in the nation! With 12 College World Series appearances so far, will they secure their first-ever CWS trophy this year? Be sure to stay tuned on ESPN+.
