CLEMSON, SC – As basketball comes to an end, Women’s softball is in full swing. #19 Clemson Lady Tigers visited #25 South Carolina last night where they obliterated the competition. John Rittman in the last 6 outs versus the Lady Gamecocks, Coach Rittman has the upper hand in the match claiming 6 victories to 1 loss. Let’s begin with some highlights.
The second inning is where Julia Knowler smacks one out of the park for a solo shot HR taking an early 1-0 lead. Alia Logoleo would get on base with a single where #4 Aby Vieira would bring in Logoleo on an RBI double.
At top of the third inning Maddie Moore would extend the lead for the Lady Tigers with her own solo shot HR pushing the leading to 3-0. Alex Brown was on fire last night hitting a double and then again a triple in the top of the seventh. In the 5th inning, it would take official review as Maddie Moore tried to reach home where she was initially called out. The call would be changed due to USC blocking the plate pushing the lead to 4-0.
Three more runs would be added in the 7th . Julia Knowler would add to her hit total with a RBI single. A sacrifice bunt turned into an RBI single where Aby Vieira would reach first on a pitcher error. South Carolina didn’t stand a chance against the hot bats of the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers will return home for a 3-game series against Duke beginning on Friday, April 12
at 7pm over on ESPN2. Game 3 will play on ACC Network at 6pm Sunday. Stay tuned to watch your Lady Tigers in action all weekend long.
