CIUFO COMES UP CLUTCH IN 12TH FOR CLEMSON

CLEMSON, SC – (Game 1 – postponed)

CLEMSON, SC – (Game 2) Big day for #10 Clemson baseball in game 1 in the two-game series versus #19 South Carolina in Columbia (Game two will be played at Clemson). The Tigers held South Carolina
scoreless into the fifth carrying a 2-1 lead. Cam Cannerella created plenty of offense with two doubles for the day, while Tristan Smith struck out nine batters in the win.

In the eighth inning, Jacob Hinderleider smacks a 2-run home run, pushing the lead to 4-1. The Gamecocks score one run in the eighth and at the top of the ninth inning Mathis of USC, would push the game into extra innings, with a two run HR.

With no runs scored in the 11th, heading into the 12th inning, Andrew Ciufo sends Carolina home with a loss as he smokes the laces off the ball for a walk-off solo shot home run.

CLEMSON, SC – (Game 3) The Gamecocks come into town to Doug Kingsmore to face the Tigers again in the last game of their three-game set. Cole Messina, USC, hits a 2-run HR in the first inning to put
Carolina up 2-0. Will Taylor, Clemson, answers at the bottom of the first, with a solo HR, to cut the lead in half. This is Taylor’s 4th consecutive at-bat, playing at home, with a HR. Carolina would score
another run in the 3rd to go up 3-1.

Andrew Ciufo brings in his 9th RBI of the season and 4th in this series, to tie the game at 4-a-piece. The defense of the Tigers comes up big preventing extra runs from the efforts of Carolina.

Carolina did everything they could to stop the Tigers, but they could not be denied this victory. In a tight game all the way down the stretch, Clemson pulls out the broom, sweeping Carolina in the series. Nolan Nawrocki puts the Tigers over the top with a 5-4 win from a solo HR.

Clemson will host Kansas State at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 @ 4:00 pm.
