Wow! Just plain wow is all that can be said about Tuesday night’s matchup against #3 UNC. It was all Clemson, all game, not allowing the Heels, to get the lead, NOT once. Possibly the biggest upset of the year, Clemson seems to have found something that works. In the first half, it was a battle of the Bigs, down low. A heavyweight bout between PJ Hall and Armando Bacot, going back and forth with tenacity and physicality.
PJ Hall and Joseph Girard, account for 46 of 80, of Clemson’s points, shooting lights out from three (3),
shooting 35.5% from behind the arc and nearly 40% from the field. Schieffelin secured another Double-
Double, crashing eleven (11) boards, and helping on the offensive side of the ball with 14 points. It
seemed that Clemson was playing with a chip on their shoulder, as they dominated in every facet of the
game.
North Carolina was a 6.5-point favorite heading into this match-up, but Clemson’s physicality and want
to win, was just too much for the Tar Heels. They held the Heels to only 31.4% shooting in the first half,
while the Tigers shot 48.5%. This game should speak volumes of how good this Clemson team really is,
and they can hang with the big dogs. Definitely, a confidence booster staying on the road as they head
north to take on the Syracuse Orangemen, on Saturday, February 10 @ noon.
This is only the second time in Clemson school history to beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the first time
coming in 2020. This victory came after a tough loss against Virginia last week. This was their bounce
back week and they did just that, taking home the win last night, 80-76.
