Clemson Basketball ranks #13

Turn the 6 upside down and it’s 9 and 0 now. Tigers remain unbeaten!

It’s been a while since we have written an article about basketball, but such a time as this. This team is special!

Clemson being 9-0 has its best record since the 2008-09 season when it started 16-0 and it tied for the best record in the nation after tonight. The Tigers notched their 5th away win already this year. Clemson only won 8 games away all year last year and their 5th win didn’t come until January.

Chase Hunter didn’t score at all and the Tigers set a season high for turnovers. PJ Hall spent the majority of the 2nd Half on the bench in Foul Trouble. But the Tigers still pulled off the win against the previous undefeated TCU Horned Frogs.

TCU and Clemson were close in the First half and Clemson held true to its calling this season as being a second-half team.

Transfer Guard Joseph Girrard scored 14 second-half points to a game-best of 21 in the effort. Despite late foul trouble PJ Hall added 17 and six rebounds. Ian Schieffelin scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Clemson had a narrow lead in the first half with a contrast of playing styles.

Clemson shot 48% at the break, led by a late surge of 9 points by Hall. Hall didn’t score until 11 minutes into the game. TCU (7-1) was led by Micah Peavy’s 8 points after 20 minutes staying within 1 (36-35) in the first half despite shooting 32% from the floor.

“The last 25 minutes were played our way,” Brad Brownell said .” They hung with it, took a deep breath, and stayed with it.“ “Today was a defensive battle for us again.” Brownell also said, ”We had leads, we lost leads, and we’ve been behind double digits multiple times, but we keep finding a way to win. Our team is unbelievably excited. I love our fan base is excited and we can’t wait to get back to Littlejohn.”

Clemson returns back on the road to Memphis next week at 3 PM.
