The Clemson Tigers are moving into Week 6 with a record of 3-2, as they are back home this week to face off against the Demon Deacons. With an already shaky performance against a different Devils team, how will the God-centered Tigers perform on Saturday evening?
One thing we know for certain is that this team has gotten better each week. Aside from a shaky 3rd & 1 call against the Seminoles, we’ve seen a dominant performance the past few weeks. Cade has continued to develop and gain more on-field knowledge, and freshmen like TJ Parker and Tyler Brown are taking the nation by storm.
One thing the Tigers are familiar with is showcasing freshman talent. We’ve seen it with Trevor Lawrence, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, and Sammy Watkins. Some of the biggest names have come through Clemson and have showcased their talents since year one. It is the same pace for Defensive End TJ Parker and Wide Receiver Tyler Brown. In just four games, true freshman TJ Parker has exposed opposing offensive lines, accumulating 16 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks. With just a quarter of the season over, how much more dominant does Parker get?
On the other side of the ball, Tyler Brown has been putting on a show. The 5’11 receiver is most definitely undersized in height, but his heart is what matters most. The true freshman combined for only 4 receptions in his first two games of the season, but after Antonio Williams was put on the injury list, it was time for the kid to step up. In the past two weeks, he has combined for 14 receptions, and over 225 yards, averaging almost 17 yards per catch. With his small size and his quick and agile moves, do we have a young Tyreek Hill at Death Valley?
It’s no doubt Clemson has been in the conversation for the top team in CFB in recent years. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out this season, with two early losses. What will it take to get these Tigers back to championship caliber?
