Clemson Tigers vs. The Duke Blue Devils in Game 1 on Monday, September 4th @ 8 pm
They say in the South there Are 4 Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Football Season, and the wait is over! The off-season has been exciting and here are a couple of notes.
Recruiting: We had an epic recruiting season. Sammy Woods to name one. It’s a different energy in fall camp. Not to mention obtaining the #1 Coordinator in the nation, Garret Riley!
Cade Klubnik: Cade is back as a Sophomore and 16 lbs heavier(all muscle). He’s one year wiser and more experienced. That is backed by the return of Shipley and Phil Maffat who are 100% of background brut force which is crazy because Maffat almost gained 1000 yards last year! That combined with Garret’s razzle and dazzle play calling, this year’s offense is in the category of The Deshaun Watson era of Wayne Gallman, Hunter Renfro, and The Natty Crew of that era.
Defense: Our defense was pretty solid last year if you follow the numbers and statistics. However, one name stands out and I want you to remember his name. Peter Woods. Write it down or say it out loud because before too long it will be a household name. Especially amongst the Clemson nation that will extend over to professional football. I’ve followed this guy and saw him in the spring game. He is the real deal! Soon everyone in the nation will know his name. Just ask Dabo. As a pre-season gift, Xavier Thomas is healthy and experienced making this year’s defense look like the best we have had since the Power Ranger days with Wilkins, Lawrence, Ferrell, and Austin.
My dad always said, “Offense wins games, but Defense wins Championships.” Now saying that this team has all the elements coming together to win a Championship. Only time will tell. I have high hopes and so should you. As I Bleed Orange is exploding in growth and our sports network has added over 15 sponsors since March, you haven’t seen anything yet!
