Clemson breezes by Notre Dame to mark a #3 seed in the ACC Tournament!
Currently, the Tigers are (22–9, 14-6) and have won 14 ACC games for the first time in Clemson Basketball program history. They are tied with Duke and Pittsburgh for 3rd place but won the 3rd place tiebreaker by beating both Duke and Pitt this season.
Clemson receives a double bye week off for the first time in program history and will play the winner of #6 seed Virginia Tech, #11 seed NC State, and #14 seed Notre Dame on Thursday, March 9 at 9:30 pm.
In the last game of the regular season Notre Dame will be playing their final game under coach Mike Brey who is stepping down after 23 seasons coaching the Fighting Irish.
Clemson’s Forward Ian Schieffelin was the Tiger’s X-factor tonight as they enter the postseason with him finishing with 16 points.TJ Hall followed up with 15 points, Hunter with 14, and Galloway with 13. Hunter also led with a season-high of 7 assists.
Clemson led wire to wire and there never was any doubt throughout the game who was the dominant team. Clemson outscored Notre Dame 28-18 in the paint and no better way to end the regular season than with a win at home at Littlejohn for all the home-team fans!
NOTES:
The Tigers finished 14-6 in the ACC and just the 2nd time since 1990 they entered as a 3rd or better in the ACC Tournament.
Tyson’s 15-15 doubles double are the most by a Clemson forward since Wright posted 18 in 1993-1994.
Clemson had 5 players finish with double digits for the 5th time this year and 5-0 when this happens.
